MoEYS: HS Exam Quality Remains the Same, No “Covid Degree”

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has announced that there will be no reduction of the high school exam this year. The Minister announced during the press conference on Monday morning. He says that the quality of this year's exam is to be the same as previous years as the ministry does not want the students to get a so-called “Covid degree”.

The Minister of Education Hang Chuon Naron has stated that there will be no reduction in the number of high school diploma or Bacc II exams this year.He says although Covid-19 has affected students' education, the ministry is dedicated to encourage the students to study more rather than achieve a “Covid degree”.

The Minister has clarified that the quality of this year's exam is to be the same as previous years, to be strengthened based on quality. He has said that the Ministry of Education's measures are to delay the exam to allow time for students to study and encourage them to study hard. He has added that overall, they do not want that students to be discriminated against exams in the Covid era.

Minister Hang Chuon Naron has emphasized that not meeting the standards will embarrass the student. And that they don’t want a Covid degree. The ministry is aiming for the same quality of degree as the previous years.

The high school diploma exam for the academic year 2020-2021 will take place from December 27, 2021 to December 28, 2021, with 114,183 candidates, including 60,397 females. The results of the exam will be announced on January 18 and 19, 2022.
